Artist EdE Sinkovics is looking for a creative and motivated student who wants to build their portfolio and gain hands-on work experience. You are an energetic artist with a passion for green design/art. You enjoy designing interiors, sculptures, products, fashion accessories, and are comfortable with your skills to execute your designs.
EdE Sinkovics is an artist visiting from Hungary currently working with TerraCycle , Inc., to create beautiful art out of waste and garbage. Examples include sculptures and paintings made out of cork, old toothpaste tubes, cigarette butts, plastic bottles, and many other waste materials. Examples of his work can be found at http://www.saatchiart.com/EdE and https://www.facebook.com/SinkovicsEdE.
You will be working at the TerraCycle office located in Trenton, NJ. The internship is unpaid but you will gain valuable first hand experience working side by side with artist EdE Sinkvoics. The internship will last two weeks, beginning ASAP. However, dates and times are flexible and we welcome anyone who is interested in volunteering any time with this project.
HAVE A DESIGN/ART BACKGROUND. Preferably industrial or fashion design.
ARE COLLABORATIVE BUT SELF-DIRECTED. You enjoy brainstorming with fellow designers, but are independent and resourceful, requiring minimal guidance.
You are not afraid of getting your hands dirty, and understand that your role will span both high-level and low-level duties, with some responsibilities being less glamorous than others.
YOU KNOW WHAT UPCYCLING MEANS. You’re green-minded and think twice before throwing anything away considering it for an alternative use.
YOU CAN TRANSLATE YOUR IDEAS INTO REALITY. You should be generative and conceptual, and understand how to turn your vision into concrete outcomes. You are comfortable at various levels of concept development—from Sharpie sketches to Illustrator files.
YOU ARE A MASTER OF TOOLS, ALL KINDS OR WILLING TO LEARN. We use power tools, sewing machines, Adobe Illustrator and everything in between.
Operating in 24 countries, TerraCycle (terracycle.com) is the world leader in the recycling of generally non-recyclable waste, such as pens, toothbrushes, candy wrappers, juice pouches and cigarette butts. We create collection and solution systems for anything that would otherwise be sent to landfill or incineration.
All interested applicants are to send a cover letter, resume and portfolio with the subject line “Art Internship” to Ede Sinkovics, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
